A quiet life, a curious mind, and a little bit of magic.
Psst. Come a little closer.
Do you remember that time you found a path through the woods that you had never seen before?
The one that led you to an abandoned tower? The path you never found again?
That is how I like to think of my paintings. As doorways into another world, or fragments of a memory you thought you had forgotten long ago.
Perhaps you have stumbled upon a forgotten lighthouse at the edge of the sea. Perhaps you have wandered deep into the woods and found something that wasn't there before. Or perhaps, for a moment, you have become very small, wandering beneath enormous flowers and curious beetles.
I want my paintings to leave room for that kind of wondering.
Rather than telling you exactly what you are looking at, I hope they give you somewhere to wander. A place where you can make up your own stories, notice something you hadn't seen before, or simply stay for a little while.
My inspiration comes from nature, old stories and folklore, changing seasons, forgotten places, and the small details of everyday life. I have always been drawn to things that feel slightly mysterious or out of time, the things that make you wonder what might have happened here before you arrived.
I paint traditionally, slowly and by hand, using watercolor, line art and other traditional materials. Wuthering & Wonders is my little corner of the world where all these things can meet.
And behind the paintings, there is me; Pernilla, a Swedish artist creating from a little studio in the countryside.
This is where I collect the things I notice, the stories I imagine, and the little wonders I don't want to forget.
Welcome. Have a look around. There is always another story waiting to be found.
Want to wander a little further?
I write about the things that inspire me, what I'm making in the studio, the changing seasons, books, folklore, nature, and all the little things that catch my eye along the way.
Read my letters on Substack, where I share the stories behind the paintings and a little more of the world of Wuthering & Wonders.
To you with wonders!
